June 28,2000-Today's update
Hey, what's going on?
As you probably know I've been moving this past two weeks, so
I'm really busy with a lot of things to do. First, around the
15th I started walking around the new house to determine what
projects I wanted to work on first, then I started cleaning the
new house, and finally I brought something on which to sleep.
I was hoping I'd be able to do all the work before I moved all
the rest of the furniture, but it just did not happen that way.
I've started stripping paint off in the kitchen, I've started
working on the bathroom, I've started painting the inside of the
closets... and I've got some of these projects finished too. In
the mean time, since the end of the month was getting closer and
closer, last sunday we moved almost everything from the apartment.
I have to admit after I saw it empty, I started liking the old
place once more. Now that I see the new place with all the clutter,
it does not look as appealing as it did at first. This tells me
that I will probably have to get rid of a lot of stuff! Last night
I was up until 12:30 building shelves and connecting lights in
the bathroom so that I can have a little more room for stuff.
Batman has finally settled. After the first few days of confusion,
he's now confortable. I guess he recognizes the furniture even
if it is all piled up in a corner. He loves to skid on the hardwood
floors, he's learned what flies are and he's now learning to jump
higher and higher in order to catch them. Of course, as soon as
I clean a corner, a drawer or a piece of furniture... he's in
it! The first night we spent there, he kept coming in and out
of the bedroom through the french doors to make sure I was still
there. He kept exploring the house and woke me up every 30 minutes.
Around 6 in the morning, when I was just exhausted from him crawling
on me all night, when I touched him, still asleep, instead of
feeling shiny and slick as usual, he was just... yucky! But I
was too sleepy to be concerned, so I went on dozing. Only when
I got up later I saw the disaster that had happened. Kitty had
discovered the fireplace, and the wet mop sitting right next to
it from the previous day of cleaning and... after walking on the
mop, he had gone inside the fireplace and half way up in the chimney,
only to come back to bed to let me know of his most recent experience.
Result: a million little black paws all over the sheets, and black
door frames everywhere he had rubbed against while covered in
black dust! So much for cleaning. It's taken him almost a week
to get over the fact that the fireplace is no longer accessible
thanks to the screen that sits right in front of it.
Now I've got a lot of work to do. I need to finish the kitchen
first, so that I can start putting things away, then I will have
to arrange all the furniture and probably have a garage sale.
This morning, for the first time, I rode the byke to school. It's
a nice little ride when it's not too hot. I'm curious to see how
it goes on the way back...
OK, enough for today. I'll add more one of these days. Bye now!
